RELIGIOUS EDUCATION & WORLDVIEWS

Our Vision and Values

As a Church of England school, we are committed to ensuring that everyone who visits can see our vision in action.

We place great importance in making our curriculum relevant, inclusive, diverse, exciting and purposeful so our children develop memorable experiences and flourish; knowing more and remembering more.

As a Church of England school we focus on developing children’s moral, spiritual, social and cultural understanding through our core Christian values, the fundamental British values, and the PSHE curriculum.  We place an emphasis on promoting and teaching about inclusivity and diversity in our curriculum.

We actively promote the children's health and well-being (e.g. Healthy Lifestyles Week and our Lunchtime Clean Plate Reward System) and value pupil voice so they make a valuable contribution towards shaping their education, their community and the future of their school.

Our Christian character is at the heart of our community and is thoughtfully embedded within our Religious Education and Worldviews curriculum.  We provide a safe and supportive environment, with dedicated time and space for pupils to explore, question and discuss important ideas. This takes place within a culture of respect and inclusion, where every individual feels valued, supported and able to flourish.

Religious Education and Worldviews

In our Church of England school, Religious Education and Worldviews plays a vital role in enabling every child to flourish, develop a love of learning and experience life in all its fullness (John 10:10).

Our school community includes pupils and staff from a wide range of faiths and backgrounds. Within this context, RE is a highly valued academic subject that helps pupils to understand how religion and belief systems influence people’s lives.

Christianity is at the core of our RE curriculum, alongside learning about a range of other faiths and worldviews. This broad and balanced approach supports pupils’ understanding of diversity and contributes to the development of British values, as well as their spiritual, moral, social and cultural (SMSC) development.

In line with the Religious Education in Church of England Schools – Statement of Entitlement, pupils in Key Stage 1 and 2 receive at least one hour of dedicated RE teaching each week. We also use the Understanding Christianity resource to support the teaching and learning of Christianity in a structured and engaging way.

Parents/Carers may withdraw their child from Religious Education & Worldviews. Please talk to the Head Teacher so they can ensure arrangements are in place.
