Year 4 – Dahl and King Smith

Welcome to Year 4

Meet our team

Dahl Class - Mrs Gresswell and Mrs Madden

King-Smith Class - Ms Field

Teaching Assistants: Mrs Real-Lage and Mrs Benham

I am sure many of you enjoyed the England match on Saturday afternoon and look forward to the forthcoming match on Wednesday!

As we continue with this hot weather, please do send your children in with a water bottle, which they can refill throughout the day.

This is another busy week with:  Dahl class assembly and class swap morning on Wednesday 11th July.

We will continue our Sex and Relationship Education lessons this week, which is focusing on puberty and changing bodies.  This was discussed at the parents information evening at the beginning of June.

Key information:

  • PE lessons for King-Smith will happen on a Monday and Tuesday afternoon. Dahl will have their PE sessions on a Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon. This will either be a outside or inside lesson.
  • Homework will be given out on a Friday and will be expected back in the following Wednesday. This will be a piece of Literacy and a piece of Maths homework (30 minutes on each please).
  • Spelling tests will take place on a Thursday morning (make sure you practise these during the week). New spellings will be in homework books on a Friday.
  • 99 Club will take place every Friday morning so keep practising those times tables. Great progress is being made!

Things to remember:

  • Your child needs to bring their PE kit in on a Monday and take it home to be washed on a Friday. Please ensure kits stay in school all week in case of a PE swap. If your child uses their kit for a club it must be back in school the next day. Thank you.
  • Your child needs to make sure they bring their reading book and record in everyday as this is checked daily. Please initial when you have heard your child read and/or when you have discussed the book with them - characters, setting, plot, prediction, facts, text layout, language choices, likes/dislikes, how would you change the story etc.
  • Your child needs to bring their homework book in on a Wednesday in order for it to be marked and then handed back on a Friday.
